Elistair unveils its new tethered power module for the DJI M30 drone

Elistair unveils its new tethered power module for the DJI M30 drone, compatible with the Ligh-T and Safe-T Ground Power Stations and allowing hours of uninterrupted flight up to 70 meters in height.

Designed to meet the needs of police, firefighters, and first responders who require a continuous aerial view with minimal logistical impact, this new retrofit module allows operators to benefit from the M30’s capabilities for more extended-duration missions such as event protection, firefighting, border surveillance, and response support.

The onboard module allowing the tether power supply weighs only 500g and is easily fixed at the back of the drone. It offers a continuous power of 1000 Watts, allowing hours of flight at 70 meters without interruption, and resists temperatures between -20°C and +50°C. It also allows the operator to quickly switch from free flight mode to captive flight mode.

“Our goal is to offer great flexibility to Law enforcement and first responders by continuously enhancing our compatibility with the most suitable drones for security missions. We offer the widest range of air modules, and the development of a module dedicated to the DJI M30 was highly anticipated. The main challenge was to develop a module that was light and powerful enough to allow operators to fully exploit the observation capabilities of the M30 thanks to an optimal flight altitude.” said Guilhem de Marliave, Elistair CEO.

With more than 1,000 tethered drone stations deployed worldwide by security forces, Elistair relies on nine years of experience and close collaboration with its customers to always offer more efficient products without compromising ease of use. With a wide range of air modules, a single Elistair station can be connected to more than 40 UAVs, allowing operators to choose the most appropriate solution for each mission.

Orders for the new module are now open, and deliveries will start on April 30. Elistair is organizing an online demonstration of its new DJI M30 module on April 27. Registration is open to all at this link: https://elistair.com/online-events/

by DRONELIFE Staff Writer Ian M. Crosby

Tethered drone system manufacturer Elistair has announced the launch of its Orion Heavy Lift (HL) in order to meet an increasing demand for variable height antennas from military, public safety and homeland security customers.

As the fluctuating needs of ground operators cause tactical communications to advance, tethered drones grant major benefits in instances where flexibility and mobility are essential. With highly effective ground units requiring improved mobility, tethered drones allow for the establishment and extension of secured mobile networks due to their rapid deployment and long lasting flight times.

Elistair tethered drone tactical communicationsThe Orion HL builds on the original Orion platform employed by military forces and security forces in more than 30 countries for ISR missions, and retains its level of automation, ruggedization and safety architecture. Easily transported and deployed, Orion HL is capable of bearing payloads of 4 kgs at 90 meters and 5 kgs at 50 meters height for up to 50 hours of flight.

“We have put the Orion 2 tethered UAV system, provided by Elistairs’ Norwegian partner Northcom, through several tests during the last year’s experiment to test its limits. During these tests, the system has proven to be a flexible and reliable solution capable of handling the challenging operational environment and conditions above the Arctic Circle in Norway,” said Experiment Manager “Tor” from the Norwegian Army Combined Arms Battle Laboratory. “The introduction of the Heavy Lift version also provides us with a very useful tool for lifting  communication equipment to create temporary communication coverage in challenging areas of operation.”

With the addition of Elistair’s new Payload Development Kit, partners are able to perfectly integrate their payloads and sensors, increasing the capabilities of the platform for the end-users. A beta-testing program with selected partners enabled the integration of a CORDIS Array II from Radionor, a 5G relay and a SIGINT payload.

First deliveries are expected by the end of May 2023.

Elistair ORION 2 tethered droneElistair Awarded Framework Contract by French Armament General Directorate

by DRONELIFE Staff Writer Ian M. Crosby

The DGA (French Armament General Directorate) has awarded tethered drone solutions leader Elistair with a framework agreement for the supply of ORION 2 tethered UAVs.  Continue reading or listen below:

The ORION 2, an automated smart tethered drone, is able to reach a height of 100 m and maintain flight for up to 24 hours at a time. The drone’s tether protects data transfer and guards against jamming and interference. The ORION 2 also successfully passed all of the DGA’s Information Systems Security (ISS) certification tests.

The ORION 2 was selected for the purpose of reinforcing surveillance and observation systems within DGA’s missile test sites. The contract was granted to Elistair in order to fulfill the requirements of DGA EM’s Landes and Mediterranean sites, as well as the Mediterranean and Aquitaine flight test sites of DGA EV (DGA Flight Tests).

The ORION 2’s objective during the tests, which can last up to several hours, will be to safeguard the impact zone and gather images for the purpose of providing analysis for DGA’s land, air and coastal operations. The deployment of ORION 2 will provide a marked increase to the range of DGA’s surveillance system, with its extended detection abilities now reaching a radius of 10-km, even when dealing with obstructive weather conditions.

“This new contract is a major milestone for Elistair, and we are proud of the DGA’s renewed confidence in our company and our solutions,” said Elistair CEO Guilhem de Marliave. “The ORION 2 was selected and approved after extensive work by our teams on  ISS (Information Systems Security) hardening, and this new success boosts its positioning as a reference for tactical UAV’s used for perimeter protection.”
