Orbital UAV signs $3.5M contract with Singapore Defence customer – sUAS News – The Business of Drones

UAV engine development program progresses to second stage of engineering work and provides pathway to production

PERTH, AUSTRALIA: Orbital Corporation Ltd (‘Orbital UAV’, ‘the Company’) is pleased to announce it has signed a contract worth A$3.5 million with its major Singapore customer.

The second stage engineering contract follows the initial engine design, development and integration
contract signed in 2020 and the successful delivery and acceptance of three prototype engine systems
delivered across 2021.

“We are delighted to move this significant program into the next stage of development. With this contract, we now have a clearly defined pathway through to production, representing an opportunity for Orbital UAV to establish itself in a new geography with growth potential in the mid-term,” said Todd Alder, CEO and Managing Director of Orbital UAV.

Orbital UAV signed a Memorandum of Understanding (‘MoU’) and initial contract with its Singapore based customer in March 2020 for the design, development and production of multi-fuel UAV engines (see ASX announcement 19 March 2020). As outlined in the MoU, both parties have now agreed terms
and conditions for the next phase of the program.

The Design & Development and Verification & Validation contract signed will see Orbital UAV
conduct further engineering work and deliver three additional prototype engine systems during financial
year 2023.

Subject to the successful delivery and acceptance of the work outlined, the parties have agreed a timeline
for the delivery of production-quality engine systems beginning in financial year 2024.

“This contract demonstrates the material progress we have achieved with our prestigious Singapore
customer and our broader customer diversification strategy. We look forward to delivering this phase of
the program over the next 12 months and taking the next step towards production,” said Mr Alder.
The latest contract is effective from July 2022.

UAV Navigation real-time operational support from Spain to Australia via Visionair CloudLink – sUAS News – The Business of Drones

UAV Navigation recently performed remote support to one of their Australian customers using their Visionair CloudLink technical support tool. Using this software,
UAV Navigation was able to monitor the client’s platform in real-time during the flight carried out and confirm the gains that define the correct operation of the system and, therefore, of the platform.

As stated by the Product Owner of the GCS Visionair software for UAV Navigation, Jorge López, this tool “aims to provide the UAV Navigation team with a mechanism to diagnose and solve possible problems with customer platforms remotely.”

UAV Navigation is aware of the need to provide remote support to customers in relatively critical situations (eg: demonstration to end customers), and wants to respond to this need in order to provide the highest quality support on the market.

“Our direct competitors do not have a similar service,” says Carlos Lázaro, head of UAV Navigation’s commercial department. Visionair CloudLink requires lower bandwidth than other commercially available tools and requires no license and therefore third-party dependency.

The concept of operation that is proposed tries to fill the connectivity deficiencies of the existing mechanisms until now, adding an extra component that is the “cloud server”, to which both the client and the support
engineer (UAV Navigation) can connect.

The sessions to which the different clients can connect simultaneously are managed in the “cloud server”. Through the internet and through an encrypted connection, when both nodes are authenticated, the server establishes a communication gateway between them, remaining virtually connected to each other.

UAV SOLUTIONS, INC. delivers AsUAS Ghost 60 systems to DoD and law enforcement – sUAS News – The Business of Drones

UAV Solutions, Inc. (UAVS) announced that the company has delivered and trained DoD and Law Enforcement Agency operators on its AsUAS Ghost 60 Multi-Rotor system.

The Ghost 60 system was selected by the Assistant Secretary of Defense (ASD) Special Operation/Low-Intensity Conflict (SO/LIC) Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate (IWTSD) formerly the Counter-Terrorism Technical Support Office (CTTSO) for their Affordable small UAS (AsUAS) program in January of 2020.

Operators from fourteen DoD & Other Government Agencies (OGA) requested and have been provided training and prototypes for Operational Test and Evaluation thus far.

Under the IWTSD AsUAS program UAVS will deliver 44 systems totalling 88 air vehicles plus ground control stations, support equipment, and training. Total contract value is $2.3 M including the base costs. During development special attention was given to maintain and ensure compliance with Section 848 of the FY20 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and Executive Order 13981 making this system acceptable for U.S. Government procurement and use. The Ghost 60 sUAS is a backpackable platform with 56 minutes of endurance when carrying the UAVS 400-gram EO/IR payload. Alternate payloads include: a miniature gimbled laser target designator, droppable resupply pod, and any other 3 rd party system with network connection up to 900-grams in weight.

“UAV Solutions has a history of supporting IWTSD programs with rapid turnaround times and with high-quality products,” stated Billie Ann Davidson, President of UAV Solutions. “With our full-service manufacturing capabilities, including in-house engineering, composite layup, machining, and 3D-printing, we can take concept designs and translate them into functioning components and systems to meet strict customer requirements.”

UAV Solutions, Inc. is a woman-owned small business and has supported its DOD customers most important missions for over fifteen years. Located in the Baltimore-Washington Corridor UAVS state of the art facility allows for the design, manufacture, and sales of innovative unmanned systems and sub-components.
