Cape Kaliakra is a beautiful and historic place on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, which is a narrow strip of land that cuts into the sea. From here, visitors can enjoy the incredible view of the vast sea horizon, accompanied by the company of dolphins, which can usually be seen near the rocks. Cape Kaliakra is associated with the legend of the 40 Bulgarian girls who tied their hair together and jumped into the sea together so as not to be left in the hands of the enslavers. One of them was called Kaliakra, after whom the nose is named. Nowadays, at the beginning of Cape Kaliakra, you can see an obelisk in their memory, which reads “The Gate of the 40 Maidens”.
